劇場版 灼眼のシャナ(Shakugan no Shana The Movie)

劇場版 灼眼のシャナ(Shakugan no Shana The Movie)

The movie is basically the first half of the anime.
Continue reading for some screencaps and my thoughts on the movie.

The return of our favorite Flame-Haired Burning-Eyes Hunter Shana and she’s alot more badass now.

Friagne in the movie was shown to be a not so easy opponent to beat as he was in the anime version. He was basically shafted on the anime adaptation and the anime adaptation made him look like a weak Guze no Tomogura, even though he was famed to have killed many Flame Haze. He got to show off some of his toys and used them very skillfully almost killing Shana.

Alastor was even shown in the movie and his summoning was even more useful unlike in the anime version which only features his flames consuming the excess powers of existence in the city this time he was the one to defeat Friagne.

There was basically less to no screentime for the other supporting characters, we were shown that Kazumi had liked Yuuji before he met Shana. Margery Daw also didn’t take much of the screentime and was just there together with Shana in the fight against Friagne. Wilhelmina got it worse, shhe wasn’t even shown in person on the movie, she just appeared in random TV shows.

I like this movie version of Shana, she seems more mature here and she has less tsun and more of dere.

It ended with Shana and Yuuji victorious in their first fight together and Yuuji discovering that even though he’s a torch he won’t disappear because of the Reiji Maigo inside of him, although not before Shana tricked him into thinking that he was gone for good. Shana laughing is so moé.

Overall I have to say that I liked this version better that the anime version, mainly because it focuses more of Shana. She’s also portrayed here as a more mature individual and unlike in the anime where at some points she was basically annoying with her various complaining. even though we were treated to only one “urusai, urusai, urusai” I can live with that because for me they made Shana a perfect tsundere, with the right amount of tsun and dere. They even showed that she has a sense of humor and even shown her laughing which I believe wasn’t in the anime. It was also nice that they didn’t ruin the last scene with Shana and Yuuji and made Shana go tsuntsun on him but she was just there with him comforting him in a typical deredere manner.

  1. Shana looks as good as ever. Thanks for the screencaps; I’m on the road right now and won’t be able to watch the movie for another week or so.

I’ll bet the single urusaix3 was just kept in there as a nod to her previous incarnations–I remember her saying it about half a dozen times in the Friagne arc, where it got a little grating even in Kugimiya Rie’s patented loli tsundere delivery. I love her to death–you know this from the AS Saimoe thread–but being overly tsuntsun puts a real damper on moe for me. I’m glad they scaled it back.

Kazumi had a thing for Yuuji already? That girl moves fast–Yuuji met Shana, like, a week into the semester!

  2. @Teiran:
hirai was the first one to discover it… just before she asked yuuji about ike having a girlfriend… just before she became a torch…
i’m only watching the raw right now… maybe in a weeks time the sub would be out…

is it just me or were you 23 yesterday(or a few hours ago)
    anyways お誕生日おめでとうございます(Happy Birthday)
too bad nodoka lost… you could have had a happier birthday…

  3. Haha, yeah, I was. どうもありがとうございます! Such is life in Saimoe, you know? :)

  4. kaawaaaaiii *-*
